6. Proof For the Existence or Non-Existence of God?

Any scientist who tells you that they can disprove God is misinformed, as is any theologian who says that science proves God. Science can describe how nature works without a reference to God, but this does not prove that God doesn’t exist.

I watched a TED talk by Bryan Enderle called: Science vs God. At the end of his talk, he walks over to a flask of boiling water and says:

“You’ve seen this Erlenmeyer flask of boiling water boiling on stage here for the last 10 minutes or so. And so I ask you: Why is the water boiling? OK, no doubt you’re going to say that the heat from the hot plate is being transferred into the liquid water, as the temperature increases, the kinetic energy increases, exciting the liquid molecules and that liquid state to go out into the vapour state and the vapour pressure increases and increases until it reaches atmospheric pressure at which nucleation points within the glass allow bubbles to form overcoming the entropy of vaporization and thus it boils ... duh! But I actually tell you, no, that’s not really why the water is boiling. The water is boiling because I want some tea.” As he pours the boiling water into his cup and everyone laughs. He then asks the audience: “Which answer is the correct one? You see, we actually need both the science explanation and the deeper meaning explanation to get the fuller picture of reality.”

That science can correctly show why things happen that doesn’t necessarily explain why things happen from the bigger picture perspective.

The Bible was never intended as a science textbook. It was written to describe the relationship between God and humanity within it’s historical setting containing moral and spiritual truths.

ARE YOU SURE ... that science can disprove God?
