If we were to entertain the idea that ‘truth about God and His relationship with humanity’ is the foundation for the Bible and ‘natural laws’ are the foundation of nature, it could be said that science is the study of these natural laws and theology is the study of this truth about God’s relationship with humanity’.
The ‘truth’ of the Bible and the ‘truth’ of natural laws don’t change, but our discoveries and interpretations do along the journey of discovery. If both be true, the further that we journey in the study of these laws and truths, the more we will see overlap ... and I believe that this is what we are seeing. Along the journey of discovery as each work things out, there may also be moments where they do not align ... and this too is what we see.
If science was equal to truth, then the scientific world would never change their stance on anything or have any internal debates because when someone makes an announcement about anything in the field of science it is because it is verifiable truth. But science progresses and changes it’s views - there is still mystery in science, even though scientists can get overly dogmatic.
If theology was equal to truth, we would no longer need the Bible - we could read the theology texts and there would not be any disagreement between Christians about their interpretation of the scriptures or what science is discovering. But theology progresses and interpretation of the Bible continues to advance - there is still mystery in theology, even though theologians can get overly dogmatic.
ARE YOU SURE ... that you are not even a bit curious ... I guess you are or else you wouldn’t be reading this. :)
