S1. It‘s Just Too Perfect!

If the sun was a little closer or a little further away from earth, a stable water cycle would not be possible and life as we know it could not have existed. It is like things have been designed precisely for our life. Aetheists would say that given enough opportunities, random events could have come up with the right conditions at some place in the universe, but when we consider all the things that have to be precisely right for life, it seems ‘obvious’ that an intelligence so much greater than ourselves must have designed the universe so precisely for us.

The following are just five of the ‘finely tuned’ numbers as listed in Rich Deem’s ‘Evidence for the Fine Tuning of the Universe’ as found on Godandscience.org:

“These numbers represent the maximum deviation from the accepted values, that would either prevent the universe from existing now, not having matter, or be unsuitable for any form of life.”

NB: 1:10 to the power of 37 is 1 in 1000000000000 ... keep adding zero’s until you have 37 of them! This accuracy is simply beyond what can comprehend. Surely the chance of these incredibly precise constants occurring at random would require much more ‘faith’ than a designer with intelligence and ability far greater than we can comprehend having specifically designed our world for life. That is what someone believes if they don’t believe in God.
